The Council’s members are the 69 engineering and surveying licensing boards from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These boards are divided into four geographic zones: Central, Northeast, Southern, and Western. Members of each licensing board attend the NCEES annual meeting every August to vote on licensure issues, approve the Council budget, and elect new NCEES officers. The first annual business meeting was held in Chicago in 1920. The individual zones also meet separately each spring to discuss issues common to member licensing boards within their zones.
